RAJAR (Radio Joint Audience Research) released their Q2 report on Thursday last week.
The report shows UK radio listening figures for Q2 2023. Here are some key takeaways from the report:
88% of adults in the UK tune in to radio every week.
The average listener tunes in to 20.5 hours of live radio per week, slightly up from the 20.4 hours reported in Q1
Commercial radio listening benefited from a huge jump in Q2, with the share of listening now at 54.5%, up from 51.4% in Q1. This jump means that commercial radio has 7.5 million more listeners than the BBC.
Digital listening in detail:
69% of weekly listening is digital.
DAB accounts for 40% of listening, online via website or app has 10%, smart speakers account for 14% and DTV has 4%.
AM/FM listening hours now only account for 31% of all radio listening.
31% of adults say they listen to live radio using their Smartphone or Tablet at least once per month.
Where people listen:
62% say they listen to radio at home
25% say they listen to radio whilst driving
14% say they listen at work or elsewhere
